Who Will Play Ken In Margot Robbie’s Live Action Barbie Movie?
It was recently announced that Margot Robbie will star in and produce a live-action Barbie movie.
In a statement, the 28-year-old Australian actress said: ‘Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.’
She continued: ‘I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide.’
Since the announcement of Margot as the iconic blue-eyed, blonde-haired doll, questions have been raised as to who might star opposite her as love interest Ken.
From Chris Hemsworth to Scott Eastwood, One4all take a look at which actor might land the male lead in the 2020 film.
Best known for playing Marvel’s god of thunder Thor, Chris Hemsworth is our number one pick to play the fashion-savvy Ken. With his incredible looks and rock-hard abs, he ticks all the right boxes in the physical department. He’s also got a great sense of humour, which shines through on his Instagram account and his roles in comedies like Ghostbusters, making him our frontrunner for the role.
The Lone Ranger’s Armie Hammer is Barbie’s other half brought to life. He’s outrageously handsome, and set alongside Margot, they make for shiny, golden couple perfection.
Like Armie, Zac Efron is a real-life Ken doll, with his golden hair, golden complexion, and golden smile. He’s played the extra-cheesy hopeless romantic in films like That Awkward Moment and The Lucky One, and his comedic side came through when he undertook the roles of Teddy Sanders in Neighbors, Dave Stangle in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Matt Brody in Baywatch. He’s a true charmer who would fit into this role perfectly.
We’ve seen him as the charming Carter Baizen in teen drama Gossip Girl, he mastered the role of Bucky Barnes (aka the Winter Solider) in Marvel’s superhero blockbusters, and his performance as Jeff Gillooly (the supposed mastermind behind the 1994 attack on figure skater Nancy Kerrigan), in sport biopic I, Tonya was outstanding – Sebastian Stan’s acting range is incredible. We’d love to see him take on the role as the Mattel fashion doll. Plus, he’s already starred alongside Margot, so the chemistry is already there.
Liam Hemsworth is another top candidate for the role as Ken. He’s well known for playing Katniss Everdeen’s love interest Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games blockbusters. Like big brother Chris, 28-year-old Liam has the right look, personality and style to play Barbie’s partner-in-crime.
The fifth child of legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood, Scott Eastwood is next on our list. We’ve seen him as the action man in films like The Fate of the Furious and Pacific Rim Uprising but he’s also well capable of playing the soft, romantic type as seen in his role as Luke Collins in romance drama The Longest Ride.
