It seems the nation has shunned romance as romantic gifts are swapped for practicality
Leading multi-retailer gift card company, One4all, has seen a surge in gift card sales in the run up to Valentines Day.
Sales have increased by 40% in comparison to the same period last year leaving the company pleasantly surprised.
Not normally a key occasion, with Christmas and Mothers Day being the biggest gifting periods outside of birthdays, it begs the question has practicality taken over romance?
Declan Byrne, Managing Director of One4all says,
“We are very surprised here at One4all, of course we always sell gift cards at Valentines Day, however this year has been particularly strong for us. It seems the practicality of having the choice of where to spend a gift may be taking over the old romantic notions.”
