The Gift Voucher Shop (GVS), the Irish company behind the One4all multi-store gift card brand, has reported a 14% increase in annual turnover in 2012 to over €150 million.
Sales at the Swords-based firm, which celebrated ten years in business in 2012, increased across all distribution channels including Post Office, PostPoint, online and corporate sales.
Post office sales grew by 13% on 2011, while sales at PostPoint outlets such as Topaz and Applegreen service stations were up 31%. Online sales also continued to grow, experiencing a 24% increase overall.
Corporate sales to Irish companies increased 13% last year with more companies availing of the Small Benefit Exemption Scheme, allowing them to reward employees up to €250 in One4all Gift Cards and Vouchers tax and PRSI free.
Michael Dawson, group CEO at the Gift Voucher Shop, said, “Despite a challenging retail environment, we are seeing continued demand for One4all Gift Cards both online and through more traditional channels such as the post office. We can attribute our growth to a number of factors, including a gradual increase in business confidence which has boosted corporate sales but also a general trend among consumers towards more practical and flexible gifts.”
Convenience was a clear driver for last minute Christmas shoppers during December with sales at PostPoint outlets peaking on Christmas Eve and remaining steady throughout Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day. Christmas sales at post office outlets were highest on 20 December while web sales reached a peak on 17/18 December ahead of the final postal deadline. Corporate sales were highest on the 11th December, in advance of Christmas payroll.
“Such positive sales results are also good news for our retail partners in terms of driving overall retail footfall. Our aim is to continually evolve the One4all offering through the addition of new retailers and distribution outlets such as our recent partnership with Applegreen,” added Dawson.
Established in 2002 by Michael Dawson, the Gift Voucher Shop operates in both the corporate andconsumer gifting sectors, employing 56 staff across its operations in Ireland and the UK. The company recruited 54 additional employees to service the increased demand for its products over the busy Christmas period.
In Ireland alone, over 1,600 retail, hospitality and service providers have signed up to the One4all scheme to date, representing more than 5,300 outlets nationwide and online. Participating retailers include Hamleys, Next, M&S, TK Maxx, Argos, Debenhams, Arnotts, Brown Thomas, Woodies DIY, Eason and Lifestyle Sports.
