Revealed: Top Selling Fashion Items Of 2018
Here in the One4all HQ, we spent much of 2018 glued to the pages of fashion magazines and poring over the most stylish Instagram accounts to pinpoint the must-have items and street-style trends.
Now that the year has been and gone, online data pros from shopping search engine website Lyst has revealed what items sold best throughout it.
From tiny sunglasses to leggings, here are the best-selling items of 2018:
10. Cropped Hoodies
Worn layered or on its own, the cropped hoodie was a big hit with celebs like Jennifer Lopez and Bella Hadid. Over 30,000 searches were made for the sporty layer in March.
9. Sensible Sandals
Fashion got practical in 2018 with Birkenstock, Crocs and Tevas all making a strong comeback over the summer.
8. Bike Shorts
A Kardashian favourite and a trend that’s set to continue into 2019, sales of bike shorts increased 78% year on year.
7. Skinny Jeans
Cropped and straight had their time last year but couldn’t take the spotlight completely away from their skinny rival. Skinny jeans are still the biggest seller worldwide and high-street brand Topshop’s Joni style was the most searched for between January and March.
6. Tiny Sunglasses
Tiny but mighty, this trend started on the catwalks but soon trickled down to the masses with more than half a million searched for tiny sunglasses in 2018. The Le Specs x Adam Selman were the most wanted pair.
Summer’s most wanted shoe for the second year was the pool slide. Gucci’s GG Supreme slides were the most popular in 2018.
4. Puffer Jacket
2018 was the year of the Puffer Jacket and it was the most searched jacket style on Lyst, with searches up 59% year on year.
Leggings remain one of the biggest selling fashion items worldwide with searches for the sporty style turned high-fashion hitting up to 400,000 a month.
2. Belt Bags
A street-wear staple. Searches for bum bags increased 80% year on year with Gucci and Topshop style being the best-sellers.
1. Dad Sneakers
Introduced by the Balenciaga Triple S, the ugly sneaker silhouette was a worldwide hit across all price points. The Fila Disruptor and the Nike M2k Tekno were bestsellers.
