The New Year is the perfect opportunity to make a fresh start and to finally make the changes that we have been putting off year round. But that is easier said than done, as a lot of us make extravagant resolutions and/or goals for the year, leading us to lose track and fail to stick to our plans.
So, with that in mind, we’ve put together a list of five resolutions that are not overly complicated and can be implemented into your daily life with ease.
1. Smile More
Smiling is such a small gesture, but it can change your mood and the atmosphere instantly – smile at colleagues, people you pass on the street and everyone you meet. It will be sure to brighten your day.
2. Save your change
Whether it’s the change from your grocery shop, or what’s left in your coin purse at the end of the day – put it away! This is especially useful if you struggle to save money; just put it into a savings jar and don’t open it until it’s full. You never know, you may save up enough to go on a holiday or to treat yourself.
3. Put your phone away
Be more social in the real world and leave the phone behind from time to time. We spend so much time endlessly scrolling on our phones rather than engaging in conversations. If you struggle with this, there are many apps that you can use to limit your screen time.
4. Read more
Rather than watching TV or scrolling through social media, spend some time reading. Set yourself goals, such as reading for an hour each evening or even aim to read a book a month. Books are a great way to improve your knowledge and for exercising your brain.
5. Get organised
If you haven’t got one already, buy a planner! Get into the habit of creating to-do lists and set reminders on your calendar app. You’ll soon find that you’ll have more time to spare along with being more productive.
