How To Wear 2020’s Colour Of The Year
In case you haven’t heard, 2020 is the year we’re all going to be incredibly blue as Pantone recently declared Classic Blue as its Colour of the Year, a shade described as ‘instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era’. According to Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of Pantone’s Colour Institute, the calming shade was chosen for a good reason. Speaking to Architectural Digest, she said: ‘When we look at the world around us, we know that we’re living with a lot of unrest, where some days we don’t feel quite as secure…Blue, from an emotional, psychological standpoint, has always represented a certain amount of calm and dependability. It’s a colour that you can rely on.’
Luckily, classic blue (also referred to as cobalt or royal blue) is incredible to wear – whether in a dress (take Meghan Markle’s high-neck sleeveless blue Jason Wu gown), coat (search Katy Perry’s incredible Balenciaga blue faux fur coat) or shoes (who could ever forget Carrie Bradshaw’s blue Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangsi’ heels).
