But sadly our latest research has shown only one in four British adults say they call their grandparents on their birthdays, with 56% admitting they don’t even know when gran and gramp’s birthdays are. What’s more, only 1 in 5 speak to their grandparents on a regular basis, and nearly half of British adults (43%) see them just once or twice per year.
The recent statistics show that 16 – 24 year olds are the worst culprits, with 68% revealing they only see them once or twice a year. So it seems as a country we need a little nudge to show our appreciation for our elderly relatives more often throughout the year. In fact, two thirds said they would like to see their grandparents on a more regular basis.
With this in mind, we should all make a little more effort - grandparents provide so much support to their families, but many go underappreciated. So whether it’s Grandparent’s day, their birthday or Christmas, make sure you keep gran and gramps at the top of your gift list!
