One4all announces Design a Gift Card competition winner
Julianna Szabo, a design student from The National College of Art and Design, Dublin, has been announced as the winner of the One4all Design a Gift Card competition for her wedding and engagement themed entry. Julianna’s successful design was chosen by the judges from over 190 entries, more than double the entry level from 2012, to scoop the top prize. Szabo’s striking designs were so good that her second entry, a celebratory themed congratulations gift card, was placed second in the shortlist.
The winning entry, which depicts a wedding proposal, will be produced and sold across the entire Post Office network in Ireland , late 2014. In addition to scooping the top award, Julianna Szabo receives a Mac Book pro for her unique illustration.
Commenting on her win, Julianna Szabo said, “This competition was a great opportunity for me as a young designer to have my work seen widely. I am very proud to have a design that I will be able to see on shelves and look forward to showing all my friends and family.”
Four other young designers, Giovana Milanezi (3rd), Colin Clerkin (4th), Charles Prendergast (5th) and Clare Lynch (6th), were also recognised for their outstanding designs with each receiving a €100 One4all card.
The competition, now in its second year, called on budding designers to create a unique graphic for a specially commissioned One4all Gift Card. Due to the success of year one, judges broadened the creative brief for 2013 entrants to include three categories; Congratulations, Weddings and Engagement or New Baby.
The judging panel for Design a Gift Card comprised well known entrepreneur Jerry Kennelly, founder and CEO of Tweak.com, James Earley, founder and director of Inputout and partner of Curate & Design ,Michele McInerney of MollyMoo.ie and One4all’s head of marketing Aoife Davey.
Speaking at the announcement, Jerry Kennelly, founder and CEO of Tweak.com said, “This competition is something which I am very passionate about as it gives young designers a platform from which to promote both their work and themselves in a very competitive and growing industry.”
Fellow judge, James Earley, renowned graffiti artist and graphic designer, said, “The standard of the designs that entered this year were of a good standard, which made it an exciting process to
judge. The winning design really stood out from the rest. Julianna's clear and clean graphic aesthetic showed originality as well as consideration to the brief.”
Aoife Davey, marketing manager at One4all added, “We would like to congratulate all the winners and entrants who took part in the competition this year. The number of entries which reached the shortlist was remarkable, so it was a real team effort to choose our final six. We are looking forward to seeing this new gift card design on shelves next year.”
Julianna Szabo’s design ‘Happy Moment’ will be available to purchase online and through One4all’s various sales channels nationwide in 2014.
