The Gift Voucher Shop (GVS), the Irish company behind the One4all brand, has been awarded top honours for their charity initiative Cyce4haiti at the 2011 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards. The awards, run by the Chambers Ireland, honour the work carried out by Irish and multinational companies to improve the lives of their employees and to enhance the civic environment in which they operate.

In 2010 staff at One4all Bikes4work came up with the idea of a charity cycle to help accelerate the efforts of the Soul of Haiti Foundation following the earthquake and devastation it caused to the people of Haiti. In year one, 40 cyclists took part and raised €40,000. This year, 156 cyclists took part and raised in excess of €126,000.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Michael Dawson, Group CEO at the Gift Voucher Shop, said “We are delighted and very proud to receive this award. It’s always very heartening to see the support, dedication and teamwork invested by staff, colleagues, customers and friends of One4all in raising money for Cycle4haiti.”

“It is a cycle that is full of fun, determination and who’s essence is centered around the true CSR discipline of a company pulling together to make something happen that will have a positive effect on others as well as the business itself. We look forward to many more Cycle4haiti cycles.”

Cycle4haiti is a 225km cycle from Dublin to Galway and takes place over two days during the May bank holiday weekend. In the past two years a number of other Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year, well known companies and familiar faces participated in the event, including teams of novice cyclists from An Post, O2, Jacobs Fruitfield, One Direct, Netwatch, Lotusworks, Ernst & Young and Megazyme.
