With less than a week to go until the big day, ideally most of us would have liked to have finished our Christmas shopping- and even started the wrapping. However our latest research suggests that's not the case for many. As of the 10th December 70% of the nation still had Christmas shopping to do.

What’s more...

  • 60% of Brits confess to spending more than they had budgeted for in a last minute shopping panic

  • 5% of eager Brits start their Christmas shopping as early as January

  • 24% of people don't appear to be phased by the busy festive shopping period, and leave their shopping as late as Christmas Eve

So why do people chose to leave their shopping until the last minute?

Statistics reveal that...

11% of UK adults blame a busy social calendar or hectic work schedule as the reason for late-minute Christmas shopping sprees.

The busiest time for shopping this year will be 19th and 20th December.

Our shopping expert Aoife Davey says: “Christmas shopping should be fun and enjoyable, but having to rush around and panic about budgets can detract from that. If you’re unsure about what to buy somebody, giving the gift of choice in the form of a gift card is a great option and will be well received."
