National Picnic Month: What to Bring?

Did you know that July is National Picnic Month?

Picnics during the summer are a great way to soak up the good weather and eat outdoors while enjoying another person’s company - whether it be for a romantic date or with the whole family.

Here is our guide to help you plan the perfect picnic:

Picnic Basket

The right picnic basket makes all the difference; whether it’s a family picnic, group picnic or romantic picnic, you need the right basket to store your food.

Argos have a fantastic Trespass Picnic Pack, which includes everything from cutlery, plastic wine glasses, plates, and napkins, along with a chopping board, knife and a rug for €49.99. All you need to add is your food!

What to Eat?

Now to pick picnic-appropriate food for your al fresco meal! Here’s what we suggest bringing, that takes little to no preparation:

  • Sandwiches – From classic ham & cheese to cooked cold meats, you cannot go wrong with a selection of sandwiches.
  • Salads and sides – purchase or make your own – we love couscous salads, potato salad, mixed bean salad, quiche, greek salad & stuffed peppers.
  • Nibbles – with tortilla and hummus dip, crackers and cheese, scones and jam.

Don’t Forget the Cooler!

Pack drinks, such as lemonade for the kids and some bubbly for the adults – but don’t forget to bring lots of water - along with ice, to keep everyone cool on hot summer days out.

This Coolbag Trolley from Halfords is ideal, holding up to 25litres and providing an alternative to carrying it.
