Cobweb Cake

This cobweb cake recipe is great for a party and whether you want to make a cake from scratch or decorate one you bought; it’s an easy way to put a spooky twist on a chocolate cake.

  • 250g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
  • 250g caster sugar
  • 4 free-range eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp black gel food colour (optional)
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 200g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids), chopped into small pieces
  • 200ml double cream
  • 10 white marshmallows
