The Watergarden Centre, Thomastown is a non-residential centre for adults with special needs. It includes a coffeeshop, garden centre, gardens and art gallery and provides work-like duties, cultural & social activities, and training for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Due to lack of funding, the centre has struggled to organise a big Christmas party for those who work there, their family members and their friends. But this year, Patsie Kennell-Webb, of the Watergarden Centre, wished upon a One4all star.
In her entry to One4all’s Christmas Wishes, she said: ‘Our wish is to have a fine occasion for the staff and workers and have everyone spoiled. We also like to invite family members and friends as a thank you for driving them here every day. It’s really sweet to see the guys socialising, and the dance floor is never empty at our annual party.
When the One4all elves saw this Christmas Wish, we just had to make it come true and so, we treated the staff and workers to a much-deserved Christmas party, which included a four-course meal at the four-star Hotel Kilkenny, plenty of bubbly and a dancefloor where they boogied the night away.
Speaking of the experience, Patsie said: ‘My Christmas Wish was to give everyone here at the Watergarden Centre a really fine, festive affair. With budget cuts, finding the money to put together even something small can be a struggle so this was a complete dream come true. We felt completely spoilt and will have such special memories of the evening for a long time to come!’
