3 Oscar-Inspired Outfits For Fancy Occasions
The 92nd Academy Awards take place this Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles where Hollywood’s biggest stars will come together to find out who’s taking home the industry’s most prestigious prizes. Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Todd Phillips Joker are all competing for the Best Picture prize. Joaquin Phoenix, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Driver are going head-to-head for the Best Actor gong, while Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, and Saoirse Ronan are all up for the Best Actress Award.
As with every year, we’re expecting tearful acceptance speeches, shock winners, funny and/or political monologues, and viral social media moments. We’re also expecting unbelievable red-carpet fashion. Since its inauguration over 90 years ago, the Academy Awards are the event where stars and their stylists pull out all the stops. Take Lupita Nyong’o’s Disney princess-like pale blue Prada gown she wore to the ceremony in 2014 or Gwyneth Paltrow’s all white floor-length Tom Ford gown with a cape worn to the 2012 ceremony. In 2016, Alicia Vikander accepted her first Oscar in a Belle from Beauty and the Beast-esque pale yellow Louise Vuitton gown with silver sequins and a bubble hem. Going back to the ‘90s, Uma Thurman delivered a masterclass in how to be a minimalist princess in a lilac Prada gown, completed with a chiffon wrap.
